Brandon Williams - President, Director of Baseball Operations , Beyond the Diamond

Brandon Williams

President, Director of Baseball Operations & Treasurer

Growing up on the Lower East Side in Manhattan, Brandon had two loves: baseball and basketball. Some of Brandon’s fondest memories as a kid in New York included going to Yankees games with his family and playing pick-up baseball games in his neighborhood. Those neighborhood baseball games, which included Hispanics, Italians and African-Americans, coming together to make their own version of the Subway Series, were a real testament to the melting pot that is New York City. As the son of an African-American Vietnam Veteran and a mother who was born and raised in Puerto Rico, Brandon experienced first-hand how being underrepresented could lead to exclusion.  Despite living directly across the street from the baseball field, Brandon was not allowed to play on his neighborhood little league team because the housing projects he lived in were incredulously not zoned for the team. Because his access to baseball had been denied, Brandon has ultimately dedicated his life to opening that door for others. As the Head of Recruiting and Coach for the Padres Scout Team, Brandon pays homage to his neighborhood Subway Series by creating his own genuine version of “Family” which includes kids from a wide array of cultural, diverse and socio-economic backgrounds, so that they may all have the same opportunity to succeed in the sport that they love. In addition to his own three beautiful children, (Elijah 17- the baseball and football player, Ava 12 and Sydney 11– both soccer players and gymnasts), Brandon’s extended family includes all of the youths he has had the privilege to make a positive impact on through his coaching, mentorship and fellowship.

Cameron Maybin is an American former Major League Baseball center fielder who played for various teams including the Detroit Tigers, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, and Houston Astros. He was drafted by the Tigers in the 1st round of the 2005 MLB June Amateur Draft and debuted with them in 2007. Maybin retired in 2021 after 15 seasons but has maintained an active, productive and rewarding presence in the baseball community. The family mentality is a winning one for Maybin, as he has led the 2026 Padres Scout Team to be ranked #3 in the nation by Perfect Game.

Maybin and his wife Courtney have three children, Trent, Max, and Laila.  Cameron and his family believe in the power of giving back to the community. They created the Maybin Mission Foundation which supports children in his hometown of Asheville, NC. This Foundation has enriched the lives of the children in their community through positive play, education and cultural programming for almost ten years.
